Veterinary Open Information Standards Consortium (VOISC)

The Veterinary Open Information Standards Consortium (VOISC) will be modeled after collaborative working groups such as the World Wide Web Consortium, the Eclipse Foundation, and IHTSDO. Initially, the consortium will develop a strategic vision for veterinary health record interoperability, consider means to fund and sustain the effort and develop rules of engagement among the interested parties. It is expected that the consortium will develop pragmatic functional standards for interoperability between veterinary systems. This is a long term, collaborative effort to take advantage of modern computers and technology to promote the advantages of Electronic Health Records for animals including One Health Initiative, disease surveillance, trend analysis, quality analysis of medical treatments and increased knowledge within the veterinary profession.
